About the Competitive Program (Rep)
Competitive Rep means 'Representive' of your local soccer clubs in a competitive
league against other soccer clubs. The older the age group the higher the level
of competition the more travel and commitment is required. Younger age groups are
required to stay within the local district ours being York Region. Glen Shields
Soccer Club is located in the City of Vaughan in particular situated in the
Concord/Thornhill Area (Dufferin & 407). Players residing in the communities of
Maple, Woodbridge, Kleinberg, Richmond Hill, North York, Barrie and as far away as
Oakville, Mississauga, Brampton, Scarborough, Pickering and a number of others
travel in to play for the Sun Devils.The Glen Shields Competitive Program is designed for the athlete desiring a more challenging & disciplined soccer environment under the guidance and teaching of a licensed staff coach who can evaluate and develop a child's individual abilities. The program allows any youth player male or female from U8-U18, irrespective of ability, the opportunity to take their game to the height of their potential. Players play with other players of like-ability with various levels of commitment throughout. 'The higher the level, the greater the commitment'!
The Sun Devils believe in striving for excellence in all areas of the game and player development is no exception. As players progress, they are constantly put in new situations to provide a greater challenge if indeed it is what the player desires. For our elite players their individual goals may include playing on a District, Regional or Provincial Teams, our Canadian National Teams, College/University Varsity teams and for the very few on professional teams. In our Player Development program players will receive quality coaching allowing them to be prepared no matter what their goals are and where & when future opportunities will present themselves. For our Club, we want to push our players to the next level. This next level may be different for every player.
We ask the players to commit the time and effort necessary to bring about self-improvement and to contribute to the goals of their team and Club. We make the same demands on the Sun Devils Coaching Staff.
We take pride in the fact that our Club is not just a loose collection of individual teams, but a true soccer club in which teams get to know each other and support each other, on and off the field. The Glen Shields coaches are 'Club' coaches, as opposed to individual team coaches, and as such, we work together to meet the needs of individual players, teams and the club as a whole.
Our Competitive Program stretches far beyond elitism only. We offer programs for both player and personal development.
