Growing up as a kid I was very fortunate to play multiple sports. I was very athletic and pretty good at any sport I tried and if I wasn't I learned quick. But from all sports my greatest passion was the game of Soccer. Both playing and watching I'm a huge fan of the sport. I mainly played most of my soccer in the Portuguese Community in downtown Toronto in the MTSA 1st division for teams like Angrense, Benfica, V. Setubul and Boavista Clubs of Canada. My coaching experience right now is fantastic and I want to give back to the kids what I learned from the game and continue to learn from the game.
Why I Coach at Glen Shields
My children play for GSSC. The Club has a great player development program and also a great Coaching development program. In my 5 yrs at the Club both my children and myself have learned a lot.

Two years later played for Hamilton Italo-Canadians. Began coaching with Glen Shields in House League (ages 5 and 6). Two years later began coaching Rep. Continued Rep with the girls.

Enjoy the sport and enjoy working with the children. Played as a youth and later semi pro. Feel it is important to give other children the opportunity I had.

Soccer has always been a big part of my life as far back as I could remember. Growing up in North York I played most of my youth soccer for the North York Hearts and one season with Glen Shields U18 team. Coaching youth soccer has been great in recent years and giving back to the kids what I learned over the years has been very rewarding.

Coached for the past 30 years. Began coaching with Kitchener Minor Soccer after playing in the organization for many years. Have won the Ontario Cup and the Robbie along with other awards including the USA Cup and numerous tournaments. Nominated by the Kitchener Sports Association for Coach of the Year. Have coached for Maple Leaf Soccer Club, Wexford Soccer Club, Malvern Soccer Club and Markham Soccer Club. Have served for the past 10 years as Vice President of the Central Soccer League as well as being on the Executive for Wexford Soccer Club and Markham Soccer Club.

I was a professional soccer player for 12 years in England and I played for the following clubs: Tottenham Hotspurs, Leyton Orient, Doncaster Rovers, Mansfield Town and Barnet Football Club. I was also capped 21 times for St. Lucia and played in the world cup qualifiers for them.

Eva Havaris

Eva Havaris joined Glen Shields as a staff coach in April 2009. She is concurrently the Head Coach of the University of Toronto Women's varsity program, a position she has held since August 2008. As a player, Eva competed with the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga for two years before returning home to finish her varsity career with the University of Western Ontario. In 2003, Eva was named Canadian Interuniversity Sport's MVP in women's soccer. Prior to her coaching tenure at U of T, Eva spent two seasons as the Head Coach at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario as well as Head Coach of the 2004 National U14G Championship team – the North London Supernova.

Coached soccer for the past 12 years in both the house league and competitive level. Was an assistant coach for the boys 96 red team for 5 years and helped them with the division in 2006. Became head coach last year and led the team to a second place finish and promotion to level 4 premier for the 2010 outdoor season. Only allowed 8 goals against the entire year and played a very controlled and discipline brand of soccer. Greatly enjoyed developing and teaching the players to become better soccer players and more importantly building their confidence and self esteem that can be used in life after soccer.

Why I Coach at Glen Shields
Having coached for 8 years at Glen Shields SC, I truly believe that the club has become an elite program. It has incorporated the ideas of developing soccer techniques/tactics as well as instilling life skills into our youth. The club provides opportunities for players to use soccer as a vehicle to an education(scholarships) and helped me become better through coaching clinics and seminars. Being part of the GSSC coaching group has been a fun and learning experience.

Frank Tripodi

A player all his life, Frank coaches with as much passion, enthusiasm, and dedication as he plays with. For 4 years prior to joining GSSC, Frank devoted much of his time advancing the skills development of the children and youth that played for him. A firm believer that children develop best in an environment based on positive reinforcement, support, and team work, Frank focuses on creating an atmosphere conducive to furthering the basic fundamentals of the game in all of his players. At the core of his coaching philosophy is an understanding that coaches play a key role in the level of confidence displayed by their players, both on and off the field. "Soccer is a medium through which children develop important life skills like determination and discipline, practice co-operation and teamwork, and learn the importance of always believing in themselves and in their abilities", says Frank.
